The Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)- inspired method of placenta encapsulation typically involves steaming the placenta first, sometimes with ingredients such as ginger, lemon and chili pepper before slicing, dehydrating, grinding and placing it into capsules. Traditional practices believe the warming preparation may support the body’s transition into postpartum recovery by encouraging warmth, restoration and vitality.

A placenta tincture is a liquid preparation made by steeping a small piece of placenta in high-proof alcohol for an extended period, then straining the liquid. It can be stored much longer than capsules. People who use placenta tinctures commonly report using them for emotional support, hormonal transitions, stress or during major reproductive changes such as weaning or menopause.

A placenta salve is a topical balm made by infusing a small amount of prepared placenta into a skin-safe oil then blending it with ingredients such as beeswax and nourishing oils or butters. It is commonly used to moisturize and soothe dry, irritated or sensitive skin. It may be applied to the abdomen, hands, feet or minor areas of skin discomfort.

It may not be recommended if you have certain infections, a placental infection or certain blood-borne illnesses. If your placenta cannot be encapsulated, you will receive a partial refund.

Your placenta should be placed in a food-safe container or sealed bag and kept on ice or refrigerated until it is picked up. We will provide detailed storage instructions before your due date.

Most clients receive their completed order within 48-72 hours after the placenta is received, depending on scheduling and location.

The number of capsules varies based on the size of your placenta. Generally the amount ranges from 60-180.

You will receive dosage instructions with your order. Many parents begin taking them within the first few days postpartum and adjust the dosage over the following weeks.
